I only use the Brome bird feeder products! I've tried many, many others and the Brome is by far the best. It's made so well and, most important to me, is that it really keeps the squirrels out.

Ordered this with another feeder and after installation in a know bird-popular location the gold finches just do not go choose to feed at this feeder. The old gold finch feeder a few meters away always has a bird or two feeding there, and the food goes down steadily, but this new feeder is rarely patronized and the feed inside (thistle seed) has not gone down an inch.

Seems to work great for me, I have a den tree loaded with squirrels and none have nosed around it as of one month of having the feeder. Is very easy to clean and fill. with this feeder, there is no need to completely tear apart to clean it. With other ones that I have owned, to clean them, it had to be torn completely apart to clean risking breaking a part and leaking when it rained. This Feeder is very simple to clean and fill. Top of line feeder, worth the price paid and looks 100 percent cooler then my old ones.

This feeder is a must for those with healthy populations of finches /and/ squirrels. The feeder itself is very well made of quality materials, from the calibrated moving metal squirrel baffle to the thick, UV-resistant tube and coated metal lid and perches. I also bought the larger "Squirrel Buster Plus" regular feeder through Amazon made by Brome and found it to be equally, if not even more, well made. Both are extremely effective: my neighborhood is older and ringed by dozens of mature Pin Oaks teeming with squirrels. They've had free run of my yard for years (the last owners were definitely not gardeners), pulling open suet cages, burying seeds and acorns everywhere, chattering madly at the dog... and then came the Brome feeders. Both are in easy reach of the ground, and the squirrels can climb the pole, but to no use: the baffles slide down every time and they get squat (instead of fat) from my feeders. Huzzah! I would use these feeders even if I didn't have squirrels, I like the dark green metal finish and slim construction, and I really like not needing extra feeder pole baffles, plastic cones, etc. to keep out the squirrels, who are back to their regular job of eating the seed that falls to the ground. :)

NOTE about shipping: this feeder was shipped "as is" in its original box, a shortcut that I did not appreciate. These feeders are pricey, as other reviewers have noted, and worth it, but they DO contain calibrated springs and moving parts, the product needs to be shipped inside a shipping box. The first Brome feeder I ordered was shipped properly, no idea why this one was not. Luckily it suffered no damage and is an outstanding product in action.
